Voor Real Dreams (2021) reisde fotograaf Ruben Lundgren zes jaar lang in opdracht voor onder andere De Volkskrant kriskras door China. In 75 beelden geeft het boek een humoristische reflectie op het land, met een heel eigen esthetiek. Terugkerende thema's in het werk zijn de gretige omarming van technologie, het veranderende politieke klimaat en de maakbaarheid van de fotojournalistiek.
